Q:

Where is linen made in India?

Hi everyone,

I am planning to purchase some linen clothes for the summer season and I want to make sure that I am buying authentic Indian linen. I have heard that India is a major producer of high-quality linen fabric and clothing. Can someone please tell me where linen is made in India?

I am hoping to get recommendations for specific cities or regions in India that are known for producing high-quality linen. I would also appreciate it if anyone can recommend any reliable online stores or physical shops where I can purchase authentic Indian linen clothing.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hey there,

If you're in the South India region, you should check out the Kerala state. I visited a linen weaving unit in Kannur, which is a small town in the north of Kerala. They produce handloom linen sarees, dhotis and Kurtis. Kerala linen has its own unique style with traditional patterns and the quality of the sarees that I bought is just amazing.

Apart from the traditional sarees, they also produce trendy and modern linen clothes and export them to different countries. You can check their Instagram page for their collection.

I hope this information will help in your search for authentic Indian linen clothing!

Cheers.

Hi everyone,

I have found that one of the best places to find high-quality Indian linen clothing is in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Known for its rich history of textile production, Jaipur is home to some of the best artisans and craftsmen in the country, and they really know how to work with fabrics like linen to create beautiful and unique clothing.

One specific shop that I have had great experiences with is Anokhi. They have a collection of linen clothing for both men and women, and all of their products are ethically sourced and made with natural fibers.

As for where linen is made in India, I have heard that the state of Odisha is also known for its linen production. The city of Sambalpur in Odisha has a tradition of producing exquisite linen sarees for generations.

I hope this helps in your search for authentic Indian linen clothing!

Best regards.

Hi there,

I recently purchased some linen clothing from an online store called Fabindia. They claim to use natural fibers like linen and cotton to make their clothes and have a wide variety of linen clothing options.

As for where linen is made in India, I have heard that the states of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu are known for producing high-quality linen fabric. I have personally purchased linen bed linens from a store in Tamil Nadu and they have been excellent quality.

I hope this helps in your search for authentic Indian linen clothing!

Best regards.

Hello everyone,

I have a personal favorite store for purchasing Indian linen clothing, which is Khadi India. They are a government-recognized institution that promotes the sustainability of the indigenous textile industry. Khadi India has both online and physical stores across all the major states in India.

Their linen clothing collection is quite impressive, from linen shirts for men and women to linen sarees, stoles, dress materials, and other accessories. Whenever I wear their linen clothes, I feel comfortable and stylish with my unique look.

As for where linen is made in India, I know that linen production is also quite prominent in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The village Kalanjiyam near Srikakulam is known for its pure linen sarees and other linen textiles.

I hope this suggestion of mine helps you to find authentic Indian linen clothing.

Thank you.
