What is the advantage of lace?

Hi everyone! I'm currently in the market for new shoes and I've noticed a lot of options that feature lace closures. I'm curious to know what the advantage of lace is compared to other closure types such as zippers or velcro? I have limited experience with lace closures and would like to hear from those who have used them extensively. Are they more secure, comfortable, adjustable? I'm looking for any insights that can help me make an informed decision on my next pair of shoes. Thank you!

As someone who loves to run and exercise regularly, I prefer shoes with lace closures because they provide an extra level of support and stability. With laces, you can adjust the tightness of the shoe around your foot, which can help prevent your foot from sliding around or shifting inside the shoe during intense activity.

I've also found that shoes with lace closures tend to be more breathable, which is important when you're working up a sweat. Many lace-up shoes have perforations or mesh panels that allow air to flow in and out of the shoe, keeping your feet cooler and less sweaty.

Overall, I think that lace closures are ideal for anyone who leads an active lifestyle and needs a shoe that can keep up. The support, stability, and breathability that laces provide make them a great choice for running, hiking, and other high-impact activities.

I used to be a huge fan of velcro closures in my shoes because they were incredibly convenient and easy to get on and off. However, after trying shoes with laces, I have to say that I much prefer lace closures now. Laces give you more control over the fit of your shoes than velcro can. I have wide feet and often have trouble finding shoes that fit properly, but laces allow me to adjust the tightness in different areas of the shoe.

Additionally, I've found that laced shoes tend to be more comfortable because you have the ability to adjust the fit to your foot. Velcro closures, on the other hand, can sometimes be too tight or too loose and not provide enough support. While it may take a bit more time to put on and take off laced shoes, I think the benefits in terms of fit and comfort are worth it.

As someone who has worn shoes with laces for years, I can say that the main advantage of lace closures is how adjustable they are. With laces, you can really customize the fit of your shoes to your foot, which can be especially helpful if you have unevenly shaped feet or need extra support in certain areas. Laces also tend to provide a more secure fit than other closure types because you can really tighten them down. However, I will say that sometimes laces can be a bit of a pain to deal with, especially if they come untied frequently or get caught in things. It's really up to personal preference, but for me the ability to customize the fit of the shoe makes laces worth it.

I think one of the advantages of lace closures that hasn't been mentioned yet is their durability. I tend to be pretty hard on my shoes and have found that shoes with lace closures last longer than ones with velcro or other types of closures. Laces are less likely to fray or wear down over time because they are made of more durable materials, like cotton or synthetic fibers.

I also appreciate that laced shoes can be easily repaired if the laces do happen to wear out. You can simply replace the laces rather than having to buy a whole new pair of shoes. Overall, I think that the durability and repairability of lace closures make them a smart investment for anyone who wants long-lasting shoes.
