What is handmade lace called?

Hi everyone,

I am currently interested in purchasing some lace for a special project that I am working on. I have come across many different types of lace, and I am interested in buying something that is handmade. However, I am not sure what handmade lace is called or how to search for it online.

Can someone tell me what the proper term for handmade lace is? Any suggestions on where I can find some high-quality handmade lace would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hey there!

As someone who has worked with lace extensively, I can tell you that handmade lace is commonly referred to as "bobbin lace." This type of lace is made by using bobbins and a pillow to create intricate patterns by crossing threads over each other.

If you are interested in purchasing some handmade lace, I would suggest checking out Etsy. There are many talented lace makers on the platform who create beautiful and unique pieces. You can also try searching for "bobbin lace" or "handmade lace" on Google to find other online shops that sell it.

Hope that helps and good luck with your project!

Hi there,

I have been collecting handmade lace for some time now, and I can tell you that there are many different types of handmade lace, including bobbin lace, needle lace, and crochet lace. Each type has its own unique characteristics and style, so it really depends on what you are looking for.

If you are interested in bobbin lace, there are many online shops that sell both antique and contemporary pieces. However, if you are looking for something more unique, I would suggest attending a lace convention or festival. These events often have vendors selling handmade lace, and you can also attend workshops to learn more about the craft.

I hope this helps! Good luck with your search for handmade lace.

Hi everyone,

I have been a lace maker for a few years now, and I can tell you that handmade lace can be made using a wide variety of techniques. In addition to bobbin lace, needle lace, crochet lace, and tatting, there are also other types of lace that are handmade using different tools and techniques.

For example, there is also a type of lace called knitted lace that is made by knitting yarn or thread into lace patterns. You can also make lace using a loom, which is a tool that weaves threads into intricate patterns.

If you are interested in purchasing handmade lace, you can look for online shops that sell lace made using the technique that you like the most. Many lace makers will also take custom orders, so you can request a specific pattern or style of lace that you are looking for.

I hope this information is helpful, and happy lace making!

Hello,

I am not experienced in lace-making, but I recently came across a type of handmade lace called tatting. Tatting is a type of lace that is created by making knots with a shuttle or needle. The resulting lace has a lacy, delicate look that is perfect for adding embellishments to clothing or accessories.

If you are interested in learning more about tatting or purchasing handmade tatting lace, I would suggest looking for online tutorials or classes. There are also many Etsy shops that sell handmade tatting lace, so you can find unique and high-quality pieces there.

I hope this helps and good luck with your project!
