Q:

Can I wash denim with normal clothes?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a new pair of jeans and I'm wondering if it's okay to wash them with my regular clothes in the laundry machine. I don't want to ruin them or have the dye bleed onto my other clothes. I usually wash all my clothes together on a normal cycle with warm water and regular detergent. I'm not sure if this is safe for my denim.

Any advice or tips on how to properly wash denim without damaging it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello there,

As someone who has worked in the fashion industry, I would highly recommend washing denim on its own. Denim has a tendency to bleed color, especially when it's new, which can cause your other clothes to become stained.

I suggest washing your denim inside out in cold water. You can use regular detergent, but be careful with how much you add as too much can weaken the fibers in the denim. Another thing to note is that it's best to avoid using bleach or fabric softener on denim as it can damage the fabric and cause it to fade and lose its shape.

If you don't have enough denim to make a full load, you can always line dry your jeans or wait to wash them until you have more denim to wash together. It may be a bit more time consuming, but it's worth it to keep your clothes looking new and vibrant for longer.

I hope this information helps!

Hey guys,

Washing denim with normal clothes is not recommended if you want your clothes to last longer. I have learned this the hard way. I used to wash my jeans with my other clothes, but the result was a complete disaster. The blue dye completely ruined a few of my t-shirts.

Since then, I've been washing my denim separately and have never had an issue. I usually fill up my washing machine with only denim items and use a good quality detergent specifically designed for denim. Cold water is also better for denim as it maintains the shape and color of the fabric better.

Moreover, I avoid using the dryer when washing denim. It's better to let them air dry naturally. I hope my experience helps you to make an informed decision when washing your denim.

Hello everyone!

I think it really depends on the type of denim you have. If they're new jeans, it's better to wash them separately for the first couple of washes to prevent any excess dye from bleeding onto other clothes. But if you've had them for a while, then it's usually okay to wash them with your regular clothes.

Personally, I've always washed my denim with my other clothes and haven't had any issues so far. I generally use a gentle detergent and cold water to prevent any damage to the fabric. Another tip I've picked up is to wash denim in a delicate cycle or to put them in a laundry bag to prevent any snags or tears.

Overall, I'd say that as long as you're careful when washing your denim, it should be okay to wash them with your regular clothes. But if you're unsure or you want to be extra careful, then there's no harm in washing them separately.

Hey there!

I absolutely do not recommend washing denim with your regular clothes! I made the mistake of doing so once and it ruined my white t-shirt. The blue dye from my jeans bled onto my t-shirt and left stains all over it. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all.

From then on, I've always washed my denim separately from other clothes. I use cold water and mild detergent specifically made for dark colors. And I never put my jeans in the dryer. I air dry them instead to prevent any shrinkage or damage to the denim fibers.

So my advice would be to always wash denim separately just to be safe. It's better to be extra cautious than to risk damaging your other clothes.

Hi everyone,

I always wash my denim with normal clothes, but I take some precautions to avoid any damages. I typically use a mild detergent and vinegar to maintain their color. Sometimes I also add some baking soda, which acts as a natural fabric softener and odor eliminator. Additionally, I always set the washing machine to a gentle or delicate cycle to avoid any rubbing or tearing of the denim material.

After washing, I hang my jeans to dry, and I never use a dryer. The heat from the dryer can shrink and damage the denim material, and it can also affect the color quality. I always make sure to read the care labels on my denim clothes to know the best treatment for them.

Overall, it is possible to wash denim with your normal clothes as long as you take some extra precautions. It can be convenient and save time to wash them together, but always make sure to use the right products and settings for your denim to keep them in good condition.

Yes, I usually wash my denim with my other clothes and haven't had any issues so far. I always turn my jeans inside out and use cold water to prevent the dye from bleeding onto my other clothes. I also try to avoid using fabric softener as it can weaken the fibers in the denim. Instead, I use a small amount of vinegar to help keep the color vibrant. Overall, I think it's okay to wash denim with normal clothes as long as you take some precautions and avoid using hot water and harsh detergents.
