Hi everyone,
I'm currently in the process of designing a pair of shoes or slippers and I'm considering using crepe fabric for the upper part of the shoe. I'm not sure if this is a good choice for footwear, so I wanted to ask for some advice.
I really like the look and texture of crepe fabric but I'm not sure if it's durable enough for shoes or slippers. Would it hold up well to regular wear and tear? Is it breathable enough for feet? Are there any particular types of crepe fabric that would be better suited for shoes?
I would really appreciate any input or advice from those who have experience working with crepe fabric in shoe or slipper design. Thank you!

Hi there,
I have some experience working with crepe fabric in shoe manufacturing, and I would say that it can definitely be used for shoes or slippers. Crepe fabric is quite durable, and it has a nice texture that can add some visual interest to the shoe or slipper design.
That being said, it's important to choose the right type of crepe fabric for your project. Some crepe fabrics have a looser weave, which might not provide enough structure for a shoe or slipper. Instead, you might want to look for crepe fabrics that have a tighter weave or a bit of stretch to them, as this will provide more support for your footwear.
In terms of breathability, crepe fabric is a reasonably breathable material. However, if you're designing shoes or slippers for warm weather or for activities where your feet might get sweaty, you may want to consider incorporating some other materials into the design (like mesh or leather) to help with breathability.
Overall, I think crepe fabric can be a great choice for shoes or slippers, as long as you choose the right type of fabric and are mindful of the overall design. Good luck!
